Happy New Year everyone!  I can’t believe it’s 2013 already, I’m not even sure what happened to 2012!  Without going over it all, last year was a pretty sucky one for me personally with health issues, life and family bereavement.  BookThing suffered as a consequence but this year I am determined it’s going to be better.

We have a lovely new Logo commissioned by my husband as an awesome christmas present, and Tracey and I are raring to go :)

What better way to kick off the New Year than with a give-away?

Lover Reborn: Number 10 in series (Black Dagger Brotherhood) One of our most hotly anticipated paranormal romance books for this year is, without a doubt, Lover at Last by J.R. Ward.  It’s being released in March but just in case you haven’t read the last phenomenal book, Lover Reborn, this is your chance to get a free copy!

We have 8 to give-away courtesy of the lovely people at Piatkus but because of postage costs, it is UK only.

To be in with a chance to receive a copy, please leave a comment on this post telling us what is your most anticipated book for 2013.  As always, you need to use a valid email address (no need to create an account, leaving a comment is easy!) It will not be used other than to inform the winners.  The Give-away will run for one week so you have until 11pm GMT Saturday 12th January and winners will be drawn at random.

Good Luck!

Lethal Rider: Number 3 in series (Lords of Deliverance) So Tuesday I spent a couple of hours sorting the books and then toddled to the Post Office with a bag of eight padded envelopes containing Lethal Rider!  They have been sent to their new homes but I imagine some will arrive more quickly than others depending on location ;) I do so hope you enjoy it!

Still yet to hear back from two winners, reminders have been sent so if you were on the winners list, please do check your spam folder!

Lethal Rider: Number 3 in series (Lords of Deliverance) It’s give-away time again and courtesy of Piatkus, we have ten (yes TEN!) copies of Larissa Ione’s brilliant Lethal Rider to go to happy new homes.  Both Tracey and I reviewed it and we LOVED it!

We decided that our readers outside the UK needed some book love too so we are throwing this open internationally.

All you have to do to enter is leave a comment on this post and answer this question : What is the most important element for you, in a paranormal romance? Is a sexy hero/heroine a must, good sex scenes to tickle your fancy, maybe a strong storyline is what beguiles you into turning the pages.  Or is it something else entirely?

You must use a valid email address (we are the only ones who can see it and will only be used for the purpose of this give-away), or we won’t know how to contact you and then you won’t be able to read this book and will be sad :(

The give-away will run from today until midnight BST on Thursday 26th July.  Winners will be drawn randomly on Friday 27th July.

Good Luck! (And remember you MUST leave a comment to be in with a chance!)

NB: All comments are manually moderated, so if we’re currently asleep, your comment won’t show up straight away.  Don’t worry, you only need to comment once, and we’ll moderate them again in the morning, thanks for your interest.

Edit: That’s it – give away is closed, thanks to everyone who took part, we’ll do the draw tomorrow and e-mail the 10 winners to get addresses.

Sorry the post is a little bit late, but we’ve consulted with Fizz the Book Guardian who has pulled the following two names out of her little cat-hat, in the Larissa Ione give away.

Sam – wins the first prize pack (all 5 books in the Demonica series)

Amanda J – wins the second prize pack (all 3 of the Lords of Deliverance series)

Grete will be in touch via e-mail soon to get your mailing addresses.  Sorry for those who didn’t win anything this time.  Congratulations to those lucky enough to be chosen at random!

Here at BookThing!, we have a lot of love for this amazing author.  Both Tracey and I devoured her Demonica series and are firmly in love with her world and characters.  The Lords of Deliverance are shaping up to be just as good.  She joins J.R. Ward and Sherrilyn Kenyon as our favourite Paranormal Romance authors and well deserved too!

So, coming up this week we have reviews for the Demonica series as well as two amazing give-aways courtesy of Piatkus. We’ll hopefully have some exciting news next week as well, but for now, we’re keeping a hat on it and our fingers crossed.

So, to kick off the week of reviews, today we’re launching the give-away, which will run for 5 days – Monday 21st May until midnight BST on Friday 26th May.

First prize pack is all 5 books in the Demonica series (Pleasure Unbound, Desire Unchained, Passion Unleashed, Ecstasy Unveiled and Sin Undone)
Second prize pack is all 3 of the Lords of Deliverance series (Eternal Rider, Immortal Rider and yes the NEW release, Lethal Rider!)

How do I enter?

All you have to do is leave a comment on this post (with a valid e-mail address in the e-mail field) to be entered into the draw. Why not tell us what makes a good paranormal romance hero, or what makes the best villains?

Winners will be selected at random (or Fizz the book guardian might pull them out of a hat!)

Unfortunately due to postage costs this give-away is UK only.

If you haven’t yet experienced the world of the Demonica, this could be your chance.  Good luck!

NB: e-mail addresses are used solely for the purpose of contacting the winners and arranging delivery of the books, nothing more.

Give-away is now closed, we’ll do the draw this evening and mail the winners. – Tony

I have a shiny new copy of Alterant by Sherrilyn Kenyon and Dianna Love to give-away!  This is the second book in the amazing Belador series.

To enter all you have to do is LIKE our Facebook page and leave a comment on the Alterant give-away post over on Facebook (not on this post, but the post on Facebook).

This give-away is open internationally, so wherever you are, we’d love to hear from you!  This give-away is tied to Facebook and we appreciate not everyone uses it, we’ve done Twitter give-aways in the past, and we’ll do regular give-aways in the future!

Closing date for entries will be 23:59 UK Time, Monday 19th September, and the winner’s name will be generated randomly.  I had to stop using the hat method because Fizz the book guardian kept running off with bits of paper ;)

Good luck!

I had the pleasure of meeting Tess Gerritsen at a signing in Nottingham, and was cheeky enough to get a second copy of The Silent Girl signed, to give away to you awesome folk!  I’m running this giveaway on Twitter.

To be in with a chance of grabbing the book, you’ll need to do two things,

  1. follow @bookthing_uk and
  2. re-tweet the link on the @bookthing_uk feed which points to this post (this one)

You need to do both those things to be in with a chance.  You’ve got until the end of July (so midnight GMT on Sunday July 31st) to re-tweet the link.

Due to postal costs, I can only post the book to UK addresses.  If you live outside the UK and still want to take part, you’ll need someone in the UK to forward it on to you – sorry!

Feel free to tweet about this post, even if you don’t want to be the lucky new owner.  But don’t forget, if you do want the book, you need to follow @bookthing_uk and re-tweet the specific giveaway tweet.

Thanks for taking part, good luck!

Note: You don’t need to re-tweet the message more than once (although we’re excited if you want to share it lots of times).  We will be tweeting the message a few times before the end of the deadline just to spread the word – you don’t have to act every time!

Congratulations to @AliceMartha on winning the signed copy!

Thanks so much to everyone who took part, there was an awesome response and some really creative (and some slightly scary!) names for your secret societies.  I wish I had more books to give out but since I don’t, here are the two winners randomly drawn!

Jane Middleton who would call hers The Secret Society of the Completely Evil

Janet Broughton who is a goodie, so a Secret Society to save the World would be WRSS. (World Rescue Secret Society) Simple and to the point!

Kind of a nice balance – one good, one evil ;)

Winners have been notified by email and if you could reply with your postal addresses I can get the books sent out to you.

Hope you enjoy them and thanks again to Piatkus who made this giveaway possible

Next giveaway will be going up in the next couple of days so check back soon :)

The Giveaway is now closed and 59 names were placed into a bowl (didn’t have a hat big enough!) My lovely cat Fizz also wanted to ‘help’ but since she has a tendency to run off with scraps of paper, she had to be content with a spare piece.  The Following 7 names were the first to be randomly drawn.

*drum roll*

The winners of Black and White by Jackie Kessler and Caitlin Kittredge are :

Georgina Ball who wants to stop time so she can take a break at work.
Ruth Tesdale who would like to be able to communicate with animals.
Paul Hewison who would like to stop time so he can stop being late.
Jason Bateman who would like to bound continents in a single hop so he can surf.
Allan who wants to fly.
Vanessa who would also like to fly.
Heather Shaw who would love to be a witch.. and zap people!

Congratulations to you all, you have been notified by email and if you could reply to them with your postal addresses, I can get your books sent out.

Thanks to everyone who entered and sorry you didn’t win this time, check back soon as there will be more giveaways coming up!

Thanks to Piatkus who made this one possible!
